The correct line should read:

“If the atom or molecule gains an electron, it is called an anion, ie, OH^- or Cl^-, and conversely, when an atom loses an electron, it is called a cation, ie, H⁺ or Na⁺.”

• Remember, an easy way to remember the difference between cations and anions is that cations have a “t” which looks like a “+” sign
